National Cadet Crops

The NCC in the M. S. College, Baramba has two Infantry Units one for the male students and another for the female students. These units are attached to the 12(0) Battalion Office at Dhenkanal.

  1. Enrolment :
    Enrolment is open to all male and female students who satisfy the standards of physical fitness. Application forms for enrolment can be obtained from the NCC officer or from his office. The total number of students to be enrolled is 75 (25 for the female unit).
  2. Training :
    Training commences in July. Training is given on drill, weapon training, message writing, map reading, field craft, first aid and civil defence.
  3. Clothing and equipment :
    A full set of clothing and other equipment is issued to each cadet and the cadets are responsible for their upkeep and maintenance. They are required to return all such items of issue in tact at the end of the session and obtain a clearance certificate from the NCC officer. In case of non clearance the student concerned is liable to disciplinary action by the Principal. The defaulter will not be issued his admit card till the necessary clearance is obtained form the A.N.O.
  4. Aims :
    1. To develop the spirit of leadership, character building and comradeship spirit.
    2. To create forces of discipline and trained manpower.
    3. To develop officer like qualities in students to obtain Commission in the Armed Forces.
  5. Job Opportunities : NCC cadets are preferred in the service of Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police, Reserve Police of different states, Fire Brigade and as Security Officers of different organisations, Govt. of India has decided that NCC cadets in possession of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates of NCC will respectively be given 5, 10 and 15 marks more in the selection to CRP and BSF. Cadets with ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates will get preference in the selection of D.S.P., Sub-Inspectors and Sergents of Police.
