National Service Scheme
  1. The National Service Scheme (NSS) has been introduced in this College Since 1975. The NSS aims at promoting national consciousness, national integration, participation of youngmen in community development, inculcating in them a sense of social responsibility, discipline and dignity of labour, community living, eradication of illiteracy, improvement of hygienic conditions, first aid, combining the physical work with intellectual pursuit, organisation of debates and sports, organisation of entertainment programmes, carrying out socio-economic surveys about different aspects of rural life, combating calamities like flood, draught, famine, fire, cyclone and above all mobilising resources for the development of the community as a whole.
  2. There are two separate units consisting of 50 volunteers both from boys and girls. Boys and girl-students interested in the scheme are enrolled by the NSS Officers through the process of selection.
  3. During holidays special camps of 10/15 days are organised in different areas (rural, urban, tribal, slum and college campus) for executing specific projects such as youth against dirt and disease, youth against national disintegration and youth against deforestation. The over all objectives of the N.S.S. is ‘Education’. Service to the community is the main motto. ‘Not me but you’ is the essence.
